Breaking Barriers to Resolve Women’s Inheritance Inequality

“Coercing women into renouncing their inheritance is a man’s fundamental right.” This statement may seem bizarre, however, it’s a harsh reality for the vast majority of women living in South Asia. In these male-dominated societies, women are often not granted the same financial liberties as their male counterparts. In today’s civilized society, there is still so much oppression and discrimination towards women. This problem is widespread in many South Asian countries. It’s difficult for women to break this stigma of corrupt judicial systems, especially in a patriarchal culture where education and support for women are minimal. Despite how far we’ve come with technology and education, the issue of inheritance inequality is still largely unsolved.
